Letter from Capt. Clifton L. Cunningham
Dear Mr. Hirsch,
I have been extremely delinquent in writing this letter. I am an Army officer serving in Iraq and my team and I are recipients of care packages sent by your organization. On behalf of my team, I want to thank you and Operation Shoebox New Jersey for all of your support.
We are all very appreciative of the items that were donated for us. I want to assure you that they were all well received and used.
My team is here on a mission to train the Iraqi Army so that they can assume responsibility for this country. Our unofficial team motto is "Making the Difference." I found it striking, and yes humorous, that you used the term "making a difference" in your letter enclosed in the packages. The majority of our team members are on our second or third tour here and we are very much trying to restore stability to this land.
Again, thank you for everything that you have done for us. Although dated, I am including some photos or our team conducting training and during operations.
Sincerely,
Clifton L. Cunningham
Captain, U.S. Army
Abu Ghuraib, Iraq
