E-Mail from 1stLt Justin D. Hunter
Hello everyone,
I do apologize for not sending any updates in a while. We do thank you for all of the continued support. I have been handing out the letters and packages to the platoons as I receive them and they love everything that you send. The squirt guns have been a big hit as the temperatures have been topping 120+ degrees. Food is always the favorite amongst the guys and they eat it quickly. I have to be careful around the guys when I pass out the packages because I could loose a finger or two around them.
The months are just flying by now as we creep up on the end of our deployment. If everything goes as planned, we should be home just in time for Halloween. The past few weeks have been ridiculously busy as we continue to keep the enemy activity at a low level in the Al Anbar province. On top of normal operations, we have been tasked with moving our Company to Ramadi. As the enemy activity continues to remain low, the military has decided to consolidate forces and close down Camp Fallujah so that we can return the land to the Iraqis. It is all a part of our overall goal in assisting the Iraqis stabilize their government and taking full control. It has been very interesting moving this many Marines and gear from Fallujah to Ramadi. Marine units have been located at Camp Fallujah for 5 years and have been constantly reinforcing their positions. Now we are trying to dismantle and move 5 years worth of stuff in just a few weeks. Please do not worry about the mailing address because it will not change. If you look at the address, you will notice that it does not have a specific location. The military attaches the address to the unit and not the location. Normally Marines are expeditious and move around a lot like in WWII during the island hoping campaign in the Pacific. We have a different mission in Iraq, so now we tend to stay in the same place to fight the enemy.
