Dear Operation Shoebox New Jersey: I wish to give you a ton of thanks for the fantastic care packages I've received. I was actually overwhelmed with the amount and quality of very thoughtful gifts your organization put together. I received 3 boxes, with each having 4 smaller boxes in it. The first box arrived between Christmas and New Years and though I and all the soldiers love candy and snacks, we had received so much of it that I decided to let the soldiers pick out what they wanted for just a few minutes and then took what was left (probably 3 of the 4 boxes) to our base Chaplain. Every week, he flys out to remote bases to visit the soldiers who do not have the luxury of a nice dining facility, hot showers, and real bed to sleep in. The next box arrived in February and being that our candy and snacks and other sundries were running out, I made the soldiers here were able to take all they wanted. I'd say all 4 small boxes were gone in just 2 days! The last big box arrived early this month and disappeared just as fast as the second! We especially enjoy all of the letters from the kids. I post them up on the refrigerator in our command center and everyone who comes in enjoys reading them. We've had some very important visitors too! General Petraeus, Admiral Dennis Blair (Director of National Intelligence), and General James Jones (National Security Advisor to the President). If you could encourage the kids to write the email address of the their teacher on their drawings, I would love to personally email each of the kid's teachers and thank them personally. Finally, thank you for the great program. You are definitely making a difference! Warm Regards, Bob Rubin, ORSA CSE JTF Paladin
