Letter from Specialist Freestone

Greetings from Joint Base Balad, Iraq! Hi, my name is Bobby Freestone. I'm an Army Specialist/E-4 with the 5th Engineer Battalion, deployed to Joint Base Balad, Iraq. I received your care package today, March 31, from Lt. Brooks. It was such a wonderful surprise! Mostly, because I'm the battalion mail clerk. I gave Lt. Brooks a large box; she gave me one of the boxes that came inside of it. I'm originally from New York. I was born in Poughkeepsie and I was raised in the Hudson Valley, Wappinger's Falls, Beacon, Fishkill, etc. I haven't been back there since '90. I am very thankful and grateful to Operation Shoebox New Jersey and the wonderful support of the volunteer staff and the K-2nd grade students, staff and parents of Orchard Hill School in Montgomery, N.J. who took the time to make my evening suddenly very special. Again, thank you all so very much for all you do for us over here. It is extremely appreciated! Sincerely, Specialist Freestone 5th Engineer Battalion Joint Base Balad, Ir
