E-Mail from Brian Witkowsky, Major, USAF
Dear Operation Shoebox New Jersey,
I want to thank your organization for the great care packages you sent
to the Combined Joint Task Force CJTF-101 here at Bagram Air Base,
Afghanistan. We are a joint staff responsible for operations in the
eastern part of Afghanistan and our Plans office includes Soldiers from
the 101st Airborne Division, several Airmen, a British Infantryman, an
Airman from the Czech Republic, and a weathered but wise Marine
Lieutenant Colonel. This week has been particularly long and draining,
but receiving your care packages drastically improved the mood in the
office. Everybody stopped work to open their care packages together and
there was a collective group of heartfelt smiles. It made our day to
receive the treats and I can't say enough about the cards we received
from some great kids back home. The encouragement that Ray Bekoe (sp?)
from Princeton expressed in his card to me was well received. We
collected the stuffed animals that you sent and will be sharing them
with Afghan children who visit an Egyptian Army field hospital here at
Bagram. I have included a picture of myself with my buddies Major
"Polad" Zielinski and Major "Moose" Sherry taken near the Khyber Pass
just across from Pakistan. Thanks again for your support of CJTF-101
and all the service members over here in Afghanistan.
Very Respectfully,
Seabass
